Making an Oscar statuette

Hi again,  

Just an interesting video to let you know how an Oscar statuette is really made. And it's a lot of work! Have a look and leave comments on what you think about it.   2. This statue had no name and then spoke of "the Academy statuette, " "the golden trophy" or "the statue of merit. " And the blame for this award is being called an Oscar Academy librarian Margaret Herrick, who said that statue reminded her of her Uncle Oscar. In 1934, the journalist Sidney Skolsky used this term when writing about the best actress that year (Katharine Hepburn) and the Academy officially hired him for the first time in 1939.

  4. The most popular story about the name’s origin involves then Academy librarian and future executive director, Margaret Herrick. The story goes that Herrick, upon seeing the statuette sitting on a table exclaimed “it looks just like my Uncle Oscar!” The name stuck and it has been called by that name ever since.
